Frequently asked questions.

Are the costs paid or reimbursed by private health insurance companies?
Private health insurance companies generally cover the costs. If you have any doubts, please contact your insurance company in advance.

Are the costs covered by the statutory health insurances (e.g. TK, Barmer, DAK etc.)?
Unfortunately, no.
The statutory health insurance companies do not reimburse the costs of private medical house calls.

Are you not privately insured? Is a home visit from the pediatrician still possible?
Of course!
As a self-payer, you can also make use of my services.

How is billing done?
I charge for my services according to the scale of fees for doctors (GOÄ).
After the home visit you will usually receive an invoice within a few days.
In individual cases (hotel, vacation apartment, transit or similar) payment on site is necessary. This can preferably be done by EC card or Visa or Mastercard.

Area of operation for home visits by the pediatrician
Home visits can usually take place within the Berlin S-Bahn ring. In the evenings and at weekends it is also possible to travel to the outskirts of Berlin.

Which illnesses can be treated during a home visit?
I can help with many childhood illnesses during a home visit:

  • Fever
  • Pain
  • Cough and respiratory infections
  • Earache
  • Gastrointestinal disorders and abdominal pain
  • Skin rashes
  • Sore throat
  • Minor wounds, removal of foreign bodies and burns/scalds or changing dressings

Before the home visit, a short telephone call is made for an initial assessment.

For which illnesses is a home visit not advisable?
A home visit is not advisable for some illnesses. Therefore, a telephone call is made with you before every home visit to assess the situation in advance.

  • Acute emergencies with seriously ill children (please call 112 if you think your child is in acute danger)
  • Larger wounds and burns
  • Unresponsive children
  • Newborns with fever and unwillingness to drink

In these cases, a presentation should be made at the pediatrician's office or at the emergency departments of the children's hospitals.

Can you carry out screenings at home?
I am happy to carry out the U2 screening as part of a home visit. The newborn metabolic screening and determination of oxygen saturation can also be carried out at home.
However, the hearing screening as part of the U2 (OAE) must then be carried out by an ENT specialist.

Do you speak english ? Or other languages ?
Yes- I do !
Having trained in Australia I feel comfortable speaking to you in english during my homevist.
Eu também falo portugues!

COVID 19 test?
From now on I can also carry out PCR swabs for COVID 19 as part of home visits in addition to the rapid antigen tests. The samples are then analyzed in the laboratory. The results are usually available within 48-72 hours, depending on laboratory capacity. Cost coverage for privately insured persons: For privately insured patients with a corresponding indication, the insurance company will usually cover the costs.
If there is no indication and for those with statutory insurance/self-payers, the laboratory service must be paid for in addition to the costs of the home visit.

The allocation of appointments is
by appointment only.

You can see available dates via the booking button.

Alternatively, you can also send me a booking request by e-mail.

Due to the current high demand, home visits outside the areas of operation can only take place to a very limited extent.
